Fuseta / Ilha de Armona (map) Fuseta is a small town, lively in the summer, near the lagoon “Ria Formosa”, which is the nature reserve of the Algarve. In former times Fuseta was an old fishing village. You can walk from the old town to a small, gentle, sandy beach, which is especially suitable and safe for small children. During the summer season ferry boats take you to the island “Ilha de Armona”, to the wide Atlantic Ocean, or in the low season the Ria Taxi is available. Fuseta has a lovely promenade, many simple and good restaurants and cafés, a market hall with fresh fish, vegetables and fruit, some supermarkets and a plethora of other shops. If you want to limit your stay to Fuseta town, you do not need a rented car; even a train station is only a few steps from the old part of the town which takes you to Faro, the Capital of the Algarve or Vila Real de Santo António, near the Spanish border. Near the habour there is regular flea market and in the summer live bands are playing occasionally. A good place for relaxing or meeting people and getting out and about. |
